About Us

Built in New Mexico. Built for New Mexico's Creative Community.

The New Mexico Artisan Collective is a locally owned platform created to help New Mexico artists, makers, crafters, markets, galleries, and creative businesses get discovered, build meaningful connections, and find opportunities to grow.

Local hands. Creative hearts. Stronger together.

Our Story

It Started at the Markets

The New Mexico Artisan Collective grew from firsthand experience in New Mexico's artisan community.

After retiring, founders Terry and Gil Guaderrama spent about a year participating in local craft fairs and markets as makers themselves. They quickly saw something that many creative business owners experience every day: making beautiful work is only one part of running an artisan business.

Artists also have to find markets, promote themselves, build a recognizable brand, connect with customers, manage technology, and keep showing up while still finding time to create.

Tammy Duran joined Terry and Gil with a background in technology, digital marketing, website development, systems, and business strategy. Together, the three began asking a simple question:

What if there were one place designed to make some of this easier for New Mexico's creative community?

That idea became the New Mexico Artisan Collective.

Our goal is not simply to create another online directory. We are building a connected community where artisans can be discovered, shoppers can find local work, markets and organizers can share opportunities, and creative businesses can access resources and support that help them grow.

Who We Are

Locally Owned. Personally Invested.

The New Mexico Artisan Collective is operated by NM Artisan Group LLC, a New Mexico-owned business founded by three native New Mexicans who were born and raised here.

New Mexico is home. We understand the communities, traditions, creativity, and small businesses that make our state special because we grew up here and continue to live, work, shop, and build relationships here.

We are a small, locally run team. We attend local markets, meet the artisans we feature, support local businesses, and care deeply about strengthening New Mexico's creative economy.

This is not a national directory or an anonymous technology company. The people building the Collective are the same people answering the emails, attending events, reviewing profiles, talking with artisans, and listening to what our community needs.

The People Behind the Collective

Different backgrounds. One shared goal: helping New Mexico's creative community get seen, supported, and connected.

Terry & Gil Guaderrama

Co-Founders | Community, Creative Direction & Operations

Terry and Gil bring firsthand artisan and business experience to the New Mexico Artisan Collective. After a year of participating in local craft fairs and markets themselves, they saw how hard it can be for talented makers to market their work, find opportunities, and connect with customers. Their roots in New Mexico community-building run deep: through the late 1990s, Terry and Gil Guaderrama served as key civic volunteers for Las Cruces' Whole Enchilada Fiesta — one of southern New Mexico's largest annual events — where Terry chaired the parade committee and joined the Board of Directors, coordinating marching bands, floats community and school participants city and state officials to pull off a safe, vibrant parade. Today that same organizational strength shapes the Collective: Terry leads artisan outreach, community relationships, and creative direction, while Gil handles management, operations, and the structure needed to grow responsibly. Their shared experience as makers — and their years of serving their community — is a big part of why the Collective was created.

Co-Founder | Technology, Marketing & Business Development

Tammy brings experience in website development, digital marketing, technology, business systems, and strategy. She leads much of the Collective's digital infrastructure and works to create practical tools, visibility opportunities, and connections that help artisans and creative businesses grow without unnecessary technology overwhelm.

We may bring different skills to the table, but we share the same belief: New Mexico's creative businesses deserve to be easier to find and easier to support.

When our artisans thrive, our communities thrive.

Our Values

What Guides the Collective

Three principles shape everything we do for the New Mexico artisan community.

Visibility First

Great work deserves to be discovered. We help New Mexico creatives build visibility beyond a single market, social post, or weekend event.

Community Driven

We listen to the artisans, organizers, galleries, shoppers, and community partners we serve and build around what they actually need.

Practical Support

From marketing and business resources to events, connections, and technology support, we want to make the business side of creating feel a little easier.
